Hello, divas
Man has it been a long time. This post is going to be short and sweet. I personally have been going through a world wind of emotions and storms. I’ve honestly been trying to stay afloat in life. With that being said through all of this I feel there has been a lot of growth and maturity. I’ve been learning more about myself, including my style, my hair, and the way I would like my blog to flow.
I’m not sure about you guys but I’ve recently found myself comparing me to others around me. Rather it is with hair, style, careers, or even just where we are in life. I wouldn’t say that this is a bad thing because though for a while I was sad, through this season I started appreciating my own beauty or what I see as flaws. Especially my hair. Sis this natural hair process has been a journey, one that I’m finally enjoying. After over 6 years you would think that I have it under lock. Honestly, I am learning so many new things that are working on my 4c, kinky, coily, coarse locs. I’m so excited to share some with you all.
I guess this blog could be considered as a life update, but not only that but an encouragement post as well. I had a conversation with a new friend and whether she knows or not she encouraged me to write this post. She mentioned she read my blog, which took me by surprise because I really don’t expect people to read it. I’m very self-conscious about what I write and my writing style. With such a large number of bloggers, it’s hard to stand out in the crowd. It is also easy to lose hope because you are constantly surrounded by others success. I did not start this blog to become successful but rather to encourage the younger versions of myself. The chocolate, coarse hair, fat girls all over the world. I want to lead by example and show them that it is possible to enjoy life as a plus size diva. I won’t lie though I do plan on becoming successful through my blog reaching new heights that I thought were unattainable. Pushing myself further and obtaining my dreams. Personally, I still think the fashion and beauty industry has a long way to go when it comes to diversity. I know that I can help make that happen!
When and how that happens is all in God’s hands but until my time comes I won’t allow myself to give up. I don’t plan on you giving up either!
XOXO,
Galen
